Neodymium Magnets

Australia’s Most Powerful Magnets

Frenergy Magnets offers customers a wide, inexpensive, and high-quality range of Neodymium (Rare Earth) magnets in Australia and overseas. The magnets range in grades from N35 to N52 and have a pull force from 58 grams to 1000 kg.

Our high-quality magnets are made from alloys of Rare Earth elements and produce significantly stronger magnetic fields than other types, such as Ferrite or Alnico magnets. Neodymium magnets are the most widely used type of Rare Earth magnet and the strongest type of permanent magnet available commercially, and we’re proud to stock them for our customers around the world.

They are extremely strong, with a magnetic pull force that is 10 times greater than that of Ferrite magnets. That’s 20,000 times greater than the Earth's magnetic field! They are also less prone to demagnetisation than other magnet types.

Our Rare Earth magnets have thousands of uses

Our magnets have a wide range of uses, from home improvements and hobbies to warehousing.
Frenergy’s premium Neodymium magnets can be used to hang artwork or as door catches to keep doors firmly closed. Our strongest magnets can be used for fishing and item recovery from bodies of water, like lakes, ponds, and the sea. Our smaller magnets can be used for hobbies like jewellery making and craft projects.

However, Neodymium (Rare Earth) magnets are brittle and powerful and can shatter easily. If proper care is taken when handling them, they can be put to many practical and creative uses. For stronger resistance, you may look at the pot magnets encased in a steel shell. All our Neodymium magnets to buy are listed online.

Choose your shape

Largely made of alloys of Neodymium, iron, and boron, with a chemical formula of Nd2Fe14B, our magnets come in a range of functional strengths and shapes—blocks, cubes, discs, rings, cylinders, and spheres. View our wide selection of shapes of pots, male and female threads, countersunks, hooks, eyelets, P-clips, fishing, and round hole magnets online.

If you are unsure what shape you need to buy, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Technical Information

Permanent Rare Earth magnets are very strong—some work in high-temperature environments of up to 200 degrees Celsius. Email us if you require a magnet compatible with high temperatures, as most of our magnets can reach up to 80 degrees Celsius unless otherwise stated.

Our Rare Earth magnets’ coating is made of 3 layers: nickel, then copper, and a final layer of nickel encases the magnetic material to create a smooth, shiny finish and give conditional protection to the alloy compound inside. Nickel plating provides a unique combination of corrosion and wear resistance. Nickel coatings do not have long-term resistance to moisture exposure or marine environments. If left exposed to the elements, the iron in the magnet will rust. We offer other coatings such as gold, parylene, epoxy, plastic, and Teflon for sale.

Choosing strength and grading

The pull force is how much force you must pull on a magnet to move it away from something, such as a steel surface or another magnet. We show this force in kilos on our site and our measurements are measured against a 10mm steel plate. A magnet grade is another good measure of the strength of a magnet. In general, the higher the numbers indicate a stronger magnet. We sell the most common grades of Neodymium magnets, which range from N35 to N52. The higher the grade number, the stronger the magnet for that size.

Please do not hesitate to contact us and discuss the strength of the magnet you may require for your application.

Using Neodymium magnets safely

Magnets, particularly Neodymium magnets, must be handled with care, as they can be far more powerful than you might expect. Avoid snapping or smashing your magnets together with other magnets or metal, as they may chip or break. Be careful when handling magnets to avoid getting your fingers caught.

Frenergy also manufactures custom magnets!

If you require any size, grade, coating, or high-temperature compatibility, please email us your custom magnet requirements. Minimum order quantities may apply. The strength and quality of each product have enabled repeat customers to use our products year after year.

The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel vertically. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel)  are generally able to hold around 30% of the pull force listed due to the effects of gravity and the lack of traction between the surface and the shiny magnet.
