Neodymium Disc Magnet – 30mm x 10mm | N45
The Neodymium Disc Magnet – 30mm x 10mm | N45 is a powerful rare earth permanent magnet designed for industrial, commercial, engineering and manufacturing applications requiring substantial magnetic strength from a compact circular magnet. Manufactured from high-quality N45 grade neodymium iron boron (NdFeB), this disc magnet provides an excellent combination of magnetic performance, durability and versatility.
Measuring 30mm in diameter and 10mm thick, this neodymium disc magnet offers a large flat contact area and substantial magnetic volume, making it suitable for demanding magnetic holding, positioning and mounting applications. Its compact circular profile can be incorporated into machinery, fixtures, recessed housings, displays, prototypes and custom OEM assemblies.
This magnet is axially magnetised through its 10mm thickness, positioning the north and south poles on the two flat 30mm circular faces. This magnetisation direction concentrates magnetic attraction across the broad faces, making the magnet particularly effective for face-to-face holding against suitable ferrous surfaces.

Why Choose an N45 Neodymium Disc Magnet?
N45 neodymium magnets provide high magnetic energy, allowing powerful attraction to be achieved from a relatively compact magnet. This makes N45 an excellent choice for applications where strong magnetic performance is required without the size and weight associated with many conventional magnetic materials.
The 30mm x 10mm dimensions provide a substantial magnetic contact area while retaining a compact disc profile. This geometry is particularly useful for holding, mounting, locating and retention applications where the broad circular face can sit against a compatible steel surface.
Because the magnet is magnetised through its thickness, magnetic attraction is concentrated across the two flat circular faces. For applications where maximum holding performance is required, the magnet should be positioned with one of these faces directly against a clean, sufficiently thick ferromagnetic surface.

Industrial and Engineering Applications
The 30mm x 10mm N45 neodymium disc magnet is a versatile magnetic component for engineers, manufacturers, maintenance teams, product designers and automation specialists. Its substantial size and powerful N45 magnetic grade make it suitable for applications requiring greater magnetic force than miniature neodymium discs can provide.
For permanent installations, the magnet can be incorporated into a suitably sized recess or bonded using an adhesive compatible with the magnet's protective coating and the surrounding substrate. Avoid press-fitting neodymium magnets into undersized cavities, as the magnetic material is hard but brittle and may fracture under excessive mechanical pressure.
Please Note
This is a powerful neodymium magnet and should be handled with care. A 30mm diameter N45 magnet can attract nearby steel objects and other magnets with considerable force, creating pinch hazards and potentially causing the magnet to chip or fracture if allowed to collide.
Actual magnetic holding performance depends on factors including steel grade, steel thickness, contact area, surface condition, air gaps and direction of force. Paint, coatings, adhesive layers, uneven surfaces and sideways or peeling loads can significantly reduce effective holding strength.
Neodymium magnets are hard but brittle. Do not drill, cut, machine or weld the magnet, and avoid allowing it to snap against another magnet or hard ferrous surface.
Keep strong magnets away from children, pacemakers, medical implants, magnetic storage media and sensitive electronic equipment that may be affected by strong magnetic fields.

Surface Treatment
The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.
Range and Tolerance
Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. We specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.
Magnetic Properties
Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.
