Many of our customers start their magnet purchasing journey by typing “Magnets near me” and in today’s market you will find the best range of magnets online. Frenergy is an Australian based company and we dispatch orders every day so we can get your magnets to your doorstep, Australia wide. The depth and breadth of our range can’t be found in any bricks and mortar stores like Bunnings or Officeworks, nor will you find the quality of magnets available at Frenergy. We ensure we source the very best quality magnets available in a range of grades between N35 through to the most powerful grade N52.

To make buying magnets online as easy as possible we include as much information as we can about each product. In addition to the dimension, shape and grade of magnet you will also find the Pull Force listed for each magnet. This Pull Force indicates the greatest holding power which can be achieved by that particular magnet. Measured in kilograms (kg) it is the weight the magnet can hold when adhered against steel which is 10mm in thickness with direct magnet to steel surface contact.

Plating and Coating

Neodymium magnets also come in a range of different coatings. The standard coating is Nickel as it provides a good standard resistance to minor corrosive elements. However there are a range of other coatings available, each with its own benefits and characteristics. Gold plated magnets, for example, are often used in applications where some environmental humidity may be expected as its resistance to corrosion and low reactivity make it an ideal choice. Parylene and Teflon are also popular for similar reasons. Epoxy, rubber and plastic are also common coatings on Rare Earth magnets as they help to protect the brittle Neodymium magnet from physical impact. However it's important to note, any layer which is coating the magnetic material serves to diminish the magnetic power of the magnet in operation.

Choose your shape

Nd2Fe14B is the chemical formula for Rare Earth magnets as they are an alloy of Neodymium, Iron and Boron. Within this category you will find a range of different shapes and sizes of small magnets with a pull force of between 3-5kg. Rare Earth magnets come in the broadest array of shapes, available in Discs, Rings, Cylinders, Blocks and Spheres. Many applications will predetermine the shape most appropriate however it can be helpful to consider the different attributes each shape can provide.
Rings, for example, are ideal for any application where easy attachment and detachment are required. Whether it be a countersunk or straight-sided hole, ring magnets allow you to easily secure the magnet to a non-magnetic object. Sphere magnets are popular as component parts inside a housing or case arrangement - this allows the spherical magnet to move and the polarity to shift. In turn spheres allow for a more dynamically adjustable magnetic attachment than standard flat plane magnets.

Check out our range of magnetic products, pot magnets, magnetic hooks and eyelets which are all heavy duty and robust magnetic holding devices. Many common issues such as the means of safely removing strong magnets have already been solved in these types of magnetic products. If you are after superior holding power for the size of your magnet then a Pot magnet may be the perfect solution. The mild steel casing enhances and focuses the magnetic field of the magnet, meaning it is stronger than the equivalent sized stand alone magnet. The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel vertically. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel)  are generally able to hold around 30% of the pull force listed due to the effects of gravity and the lack of traction between the surface and the shiny magnet.
