200kg - 500kg

To assist our customers in finding the best magnet for their needs we have broken the range into categories. In this category you will find a number of powerful magnets which are suited to commercial or scientific applications. Heavy duty magnets such as these must be handled with rigorous safety precautions in place.

Our range of magnets includes many different types of magnets including Ferrite magnets, Flexible magnets and Office magnets. However this range of powerful 200-500kg strength magnet only includes Neodymium magnets. This is because Rare Earth magnets are far more powerful than other type of magnets on the market. An alternative type of magnet such as a Ferrite would need to be many times larger than a Neodymium to achieve the same hold.

Fishing magnets

There are several large fishing magnets in this category. These powerful eyelet pot magnets are used for metal retrieval, holding, decontamination as well as magnet fishing. They are constructed with a durable steel cup which protects the internal Neodymium magnet. The eyelet provides an easy and secure means of attaching a rope or cable to the magnet. This serves as the means by which the fishing magnet is cast into water or other liquid to retrieve metal objects.

Magnets of this strength are often used by mining operators. Broken metal parts such as those from drills fall into deep boreholes or shafts. Magnets are often the only safe means of retrieving such items.

Fishing magnets have become a popular weapon in the arsenal of environmental warriors. Clean up crews that are working to remove metal objects such as cars, bikes, trolleys and drums from waterways can use these powerful magnets. A rope can be attached to the fishing magnet and used to cast the magnet into rivers, lakes or estuaries to retrieve these objects safely.

Scientific and Medical Research

Other than the fishing magnets discussed above, the remainder of this category is made up of solid neodymium magnets. There are two different shapes available being disc magnets and a block magnet

Magnets of this nature should not be handled by anyone other than experienced professionals. There are very limited applications for magnets of this strength as they are brittle and difficult to control. Highly specialized medical equipment such as MRI machines use magnets such as these within their imaging system.

Scientific labs of many varieties utilize magnets such as these in their processes. Whether it be for research or for established procedures, the power of rare earth magnets is often deployed.

Best uses for magnets with 200kg-500kg pull force?

Powerful magnets such as the 200kg-500kg pull force magnets in this category are for commercial operations and not for home users. Industries that employ magnets of this strength include mine sites, construction sites, scientific laboratories and manufacturing plants. Large Pot Magnets like the Fishing Magnets in this category are especially useful. These magnets are popular for industrial strength metal clamping, metal retrieval or lifting heavy metal.

Neodymium power is reliable and independent. They do not rely on an external power source and as such are highly desirable for risk averse industries like security and military.

The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel vertically. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel)  are generally able to hold around 30% of the pull force listed due to the effects of gravity and the lack of traction between the surface and the shiny magnet.
