Neodymium Cylinder Magnet – 20mm x 20mm | N52H | High Temperature

The Neodymium Cylinder Magnet – 20mm x 20mm | N52H | High Temperature is a premium rare earth permanent magnet engineered for demanding applications where maximum magnetic strength and high-temperature resistance are essential. Manufactured from N52H grade neodymium iron boron (NdFeB), this magnet combines one of the strongest commercially available neodymium grades with enhanced thermal stability, making it ideal for industrial machinery, automation systems, motors, and precision engineering.

Measuring 20mm in diameter and 20mm in length, this large cylinder magnet features a balanced profile that provides exceptional magnetic performance while remaining easy to integrate into custom housings, tooling, automation equipment, and OEM assemblies. Its combination of high magnetic energy and elevated operating temperature capability makes it suitable for applications where standard neodymium magnets may lose performance due to heat.

The magnet is axially magnetised through its 20mm length, positioning the north and south poles on the two circular end faces. This magnetisation direction creates a powerful and concentrated magnetic field, making it ideal for magnetic holding, positioning, magnetic couplings, sensors, actuators, electric motors, and industrial fixtures.

Finished with a durable nickel-copper-nickel (Ni-Cu-Ni) triple-layer coating, the magnet offers excellent resistance to corrosion and everyday wear while maintaining a bright polished silver finish for long service life.

Why Choose an N52H High Temperature Neodymium Cylinder Magnet?

The N52H grade combines the exceptional magnetic strength of N52 neodymium with enhanced thermal stability, making it ideal for applications exposed to elevated operating temperatures. It delivers superior holding force while maintaining reliable magnetic performance in environments where conventional neodymium magnets may begin to lose strength.

The 20mm x 20mm dimensions create a balanced cylindrical profile that provides excellent stability within precision-machined housings, magnetic assemblies, and automation equipment. Its generous diameter and length make it suitable for high-performance magnetic holding, positioning, and coupling applications requiring substantial magnetic force.

Because the magnet is axially magnetised through its length, the magnetic field is concentrated on the circular end faces, providing powerful end-to-end attraction and dependable performance in industrial machinery, automation systems, and precision engineering applications.

Please Note

N52H magnets are specifically engineered for applications involving elevated temperatures and generally provide a higher maximum operating temperature than standard N52 neodymium magnets. Exceeding the recommended operating temperature may result in permanent loss of magnetic strength.

Due to its large size and extremely powerful magnetic field, this 20mm x 20mm N52H cylinder magnet should be handled with extreme care. Strong attraction forces can create pinch hazards and may cause the magnet to chip or crack if allowed to collide with other magnets or ferrous objects.

Actual holding force depends on the thickness, finish, and condition of the mating steel surface. Air gaps, paint, coatings, rust, uneven contact, elevated temperatures beyond the magnet's rating, and sideways or peeling forces can significantly reduce magnetic performance.

Neodymium magnets are hard but brittle. Do not drill, cut, machine, weld, or subject the magnet to heavy impacts, as this may damage both the magnet and its protective coating.

Keep away from children, pacemakers, medical implants, magnetic storage media, credit cards, and sensitive electronic equipment that may be affected by strong magnetic fields.

Surface Treatment

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

Range and Tolerance

Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. We specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.

Magnetic Properties

Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.

The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel from a horizontal surface. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel) are generally able to hold around only 30% of the pull force listed in the product description. This is due to the effects of gravity and the lack of friction between the surface and the shiny magnet. Read More
