Neodymium Disc Magnet – 22mm x 15mm | N42

The Neodymium Disc Magnet 22mm x 15mm | N42 is a powerful rare earth permanent magnet designed for applications requiring exceptional magnetic holding force, reliability, and durability. Manufactured from premium N42-grade Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB), this large disc magnet measures 22mm in diameter and 15mm thick, delivering outstanding magnetic performance for industrial, engineering, manufacturing, and commercial applications.

Its substantial thickness provides a deep and concentrated magnetic field, making it ideal for heavy-duty holding, magnetic clamping, positioning, lifting, and mounting applications. The magnet is axially magnetised, meaning the north and south poles are located on the two flat circular faces, providing maximum holding force when mounted against a ferrous steel surface or used in stacked configurations.

Finished with a durable nickel-copper-nickel (Ni-Cu-Ni) coating, this magnet offers excellent resistance to corrosion, oxidation, and general wear while maintaining a smooth, polished appearance suitable for long-term use.

Whether used in automation systems, magnetic fixtures, custom manufacturing, or high-performance engineering projects, this 22mm x 15mm Neodymium Disc Magnet provides dependable and consistent magnetic performance.

Why Choose a 22mm x 15mm N42 Neodymium Disc Magnet?

The 22mm x 15mm N42 Neodymium Disc Magnet combines a generous diameter with a thick profile to produce a strong, concentrated magnetic field capable of delivering excellent holding power. Its larger magnetic mass makes it well suited to demanding applications where reliable magnetic performance is critical.

Manufactured from premium N42-grade neodymium, this magnet delivers significantly greater magnetic strength than ferrite or ceramic magnets of comparable size. It is an excellent choice for magnetic mounting systems, industrial fixtures, engineering projects, automation equipment, and applications requiring a durable, high-performance permanent magnet.

Please Note

This is a high-strength rare earth magnet and should be handled with care. Due to its size and magnetic strength, it can attract steel objects or other magnets with significant force, creating pinch hazards and potentially causing the magnet to chip or fracture if allowed to collide.

Maximum holding force is measured under ideal conditions using a clean, flat, thick mild steel surface with full face-to-face contact. Actual holding performance will vary depending on the steel thickness, air gap, surface finish, mounting arrangement, and operating environment.

Keep away from children, as powerful magnets can present a serious swallowing hazard. Keep away from pacemakers, implanted medical devices, sensitive electronic equipment, and magnetic storage media. Do not drill, machine, or strike the magnet, as neodymium is hard but brittle and may crack or shatter under excessive mechanical stress. Avoid prolonged exposure to temperatures above the recommended operating limit for standard N42 magnets to maintain optimum magnetic performance and service life.

Surface Treatment

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

Range and Tolerance

Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. We specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.

Magnetic Properties

Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.

The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel from a horizontal surface. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel) are generally able to hold around only 30% of the pull force listed in the product description. This is due to the effects of gravity and the lack of friction between the surface and the shiny magnet. Read More
