Neodymium Disc Magnet – 50mm x 12mm | N35

The Neodymium Disc Magnet – 50mm x 12mm | N35 is a high-strength rare earth permanent magnet designed for industrial, commercial, engineering, and manufacturing applications where reliable magnetic performance is essential. Manufactured from premium N35-grade Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB), this large disc magnet measures 50mm in diameter and 12mm thick, providing an excellent balance of magnetic strength, durability, and versatility for a wide range of heavy-duty applications.

Its generous 50mm diameter creates a large magnetic contact area, while the 12mm thickness produces a deep and concentrated magnetic field suitable for magnetic holding, clamping, mounting, separation, positioning, and custom engineering projects. The magnet is axially magnetised, meaning the north and south poles are located on the two flat circular faces, delivering maximum holding performance when placed against a ferrous steel surface or paired with another magnet.

Finished with a durable nickel-copper-nickel (Ni-Cu-Ni) coating, this neodymium disc magnet offers excellent resistance to corrosion, oxidation, and everyday wear while maintaining a bright, polished appearance suitable for long-term industrial use.

Whether you're designing magnetic fixtures, building industrial machinery, developing automation systems, manufacturing OEM products, or carrying out specialist engineering projects, the 50mm x 12mm N35 Neodymium Disc Magnet provides dependable magnetic strength and exceptional long-term performance.

Why Choose a 50mm x 12mm N35 Neodymium Disc Magnet?

The 50mm x 12mm N35 Neodymium Disc Magnet offers an ideal combination of size, strength, and versatility for demanding applications. The large diameter provides an extensive contact area for secure magnetic attachment, while the 12mm thickness generates a strong magnetic field capable of delivering dependable holding performance across a wide variety of industrial and commercial uses.

Manufactured from N35-grade neodymium, this magnet delivers significantly greater magnetic strength than ferrite or ceramic magnets of comparable dimensions, making it possible to design more compact, efficient, and reliable magnetic systems. It is particularly well suited to magnetic holding, machinery, tooling, automation, displays, and engineering projects where consistent performance is essential.

Please Note

This is a powerful rare earth magnet and should be handled with care. Due to its size and magnetic strength, it can attract steel objects or other magnets rapidly, creating pinch hazards and potentially causing the magnet to chip or fracture if allowed to collide.

Maximum holding force is measured under ideal laboratory conditions using a clean, flat, thick mild steel plate with full face-to-face contact and a direct vertical pull. Actual holding performance will vary depending on the thickness and condition of the steel, surface coatings, air gaps, mounting configuration, operating temperature, and the direction of the applied load.

Keep out of reach of children, as powerful magnets present a serious swallowing hazard. Keep away from pacemakers, implanted medical devices, sensitive electronic equipment, and magnetic storage media. Neodymium magnets are hard but brittle and should never be drilled, machined, or struck with excessive force. To maximise service life, avoid prolonged exposure to highly corrosive environments or temperatures exceeding the recommended operating range for standard N35 neodymium magnets.

Surface Treatment

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

Range and Tolerance

Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. We specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.

Magnetic Properties

Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.

The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel from a horizontal surface. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel) are generally able to hold around only 30% of the pull force listed in the product description. This is due to the effects of gravity and the lack of friction between the surface and the shiny magnet. Read More
