Neodymium Disc Magnet 6mm x 3mm N42SH | High Temperature

Compact, powerful, and engineered for elevated temperature environments, this Neodymium Disc Magnet measures 6mm in diameter x 3mm in thickness and is manufactured from premium N42SH-grade rare earth neodymium. Combining strong magnetic performance with enhanced thermal resistance, this compact disc magnet is ideal for specialised industrial, engineering, electronic, and high-temperature applications.

Finished with a durable NiCuNi nickel coating, this magnet features a smooth polished silver appearance while helping protect against corrosion and wear. Magnetised through the 3mm thickness (axially magnetised), it delivers concentrated magnetic force across the flat circular face for reliable holding and positioning performance.

The N42SH grade is specifically designed for applications involving higher operating temperatures compared to standard neodymium magnets, making it suitable for motors, sensors, automation systems, electronics, and technical assemblies where thermal stability is important. Its compact dimensions also make it ideal for precision engineering projects and miniature magnetic systems requiring reliable performance under demanding conditions.

  • Dimensions: 6mm diameter x 3mm thickness
  • High temperature resistant magnet grade
  • Strong magnetic performance for its size
  • Durable NiCuNi nickel plated coating
  • Magnetised through the thickness (axial magnetisation)
  • Compact low-profile disc design
  • Suitable for industrial, commercial, and technical applications

Common Applications

  • High-temperature electronics
  • Motors and automation systems
  • Sensor systems and switches
  • Engineering and fabrication projects
  • Precision assemblies and prototyping
  • Compact magnetic closures
  • Industrial holding and positioning
  • Technical DIY and specialised applications

Please Note

Neodymium magnets are extremely strong for their size and should be handled carefully. Small magnets can present a swallowing hazard and must be kept away from children. Avoid allowing magnets to snap together forcefully, as they may chip or crack upon impact. Maximum operating temperature performance may vary depending on the specific application and magnetic circuit design.

Typical Physical Properties

NB: Ranges are indicative for product category, please check individual products for specic values within that range.

Surface Treatment

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

Range and Tolerance

Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. We specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.

Magnetic Properties

Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.

The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel from a horizontal surface. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel) are generally able to hold around only 30% of the pull force listed in the product description. This is due to the effects of gravity and the lack of friction between the surface and the shiny magnet. Read More
