Neodymium Disc Magnet – 9.5mm x 3.2mm | N42SH | High Temperature
The Neodymium Disc Magnet 9.5mm x 3.2mm | N42SH | High Temperature is a premium rare earth permanent magnet engineered for applications that demand powerful magnetic performance in elevated operating temperatures. Manufactured from high-quality N42SH-grade Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB), this compact disc magnet measures 9.5mm in diameter and 3.2mm thick, making it ideal for industrial equipment, automation, electronics, motors, sensors, and precision engineering.
Unlike standard neodymium magnets, the N42SH (Super High Temperature) grade is specifically formulated to maintain strong magnetic performance at operating temperatures of up to 150°C, making it an excellent choice for applications exposed to heat generated by motors, machinery, electrical equipment, or demanding industrial environments.
This magnet is axially magnetised, meaning the north and south poles are located on the two flat circular faces of the disc. This orientation provides maximum holding force when mounted flat against a ferrous steel surface or when stacked with other magnets.
Finished with a durable nickel-copper-nickel (Ni-Cu-Ni) coating, the magnet offers excellent resistance to corrosion, oxidation, and everyday wear while maintaining a smooth, polished appearance.

Why Choose an N42SH High Temperature Neodymium Disc Magnet?
The 9.5mm x 3.2mm N42SH High Temperature Neodymium Disc Magnet is designed for applications where standard neodymium magnets may lose magnetic strength due to elevated temperatures. Its SH (Super High Temperature) rating enables reliable magnetic performance in environments reaching 150°C, making it ideal for motors, industrial machinery, heating systems, and electronic equipment.
Its compact disc shape provides a large magnetic contact area relative to its size, making it well suited to magnetic mounting, holding, positioning, sensing, and precision alignment applications where both high magnetic strength and heat resistance are essential.

Please Note
This is a high-strength rare earth magnet and should be handled with care. Strong neodymium magnets can attract steel objects or other magnets unexpectedly, creating pinch hazards or causing the magnet to chip if allowed to snap together.
Holding force is measured under ideal conditions using a clean, flat, thick mild steel surface with full face-to-face contact. Actual holding performance will vary depending on the steel thickness, air gap, surface finish, mounting arrangement, and operating environment.
Although this N42SH magnet is designed to operate continuously at temperatures of up to 150°C, exceeding this temperature may result in permanent loss of magnetic strength. Keep away from children, pacemakers, implanted medical devices, sensitive electronic equipment, and magnetic storage media. Do not drill, machine, or strike the magnet, as neodymium is hard but brittle and may fracture under impact or excessive mechanical stress.

Surface Treatment
The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.
Range and Tolerance
Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. We specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.
Magnetic Properties
Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.
