Magnetic fishing in dams, creeks, rivers and ponds has become a fast growing worldwide trend that can be enjoyed by just about anyone of any age. The popularity of Magnetic Fishing can largely be attributed to social media video that depicts unusual and sometimes valuable items being retrieved from innocuous looking local waterways. In a similar vein to the pastime of metal detecting, magnetic fishing enthusiasts are attracted to the mystery and uncertainty of what valuables may be revealed from below the surface, and this evokes degree of excitement and anticipation.

Fishing magnets are basically strong Female Thread Neodymium Pot Magnets that have been adapted to become retrieval tools via the addition of a removable eyelet. Add a cable or rope to the eyelet to create a magnetic fishing device that can be used to drag public or private water resources in search of Ferrous metal that may be valuable or, at the very least, recyclable. Clean, sustainable natural environments benefit the whole community and making magnetic fishing your pleasant outdoor pastime can be both rewarding and satisfying. Frenergy has Fishing magnets in stock that come in various strengths and configurations to suit any metal recovery task. This 36mm wide, steel capped disc and a rope can get you started with not much outlay. It can hold up to 3\\kg in ideal conditions but this capacity diminishes quickly in underwater environments and its retrieval ability decreases further as the depth increases.

Surface Treatment

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

Range and Tolerance

Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. AMF Magnetics specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.

Magnetic Properties

Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.

FAQ

What Is Magnet Fishing?
Magnet fishing is an outdoor hobby that is growing in popularity around the world. Magnet fishing doesn't involve catching fish, instead it uses the power of magnetism to uncover lost treasure. Australia is the perfect place to try your hand at magnet fishing because there are many unexplored waterways, creeks, rivers, billabongs and lakes where your strong fishing magnet could capture all sorts of metal treasures. These items can range from old coins, jewellery, and tools to more unusual finds like bicycles, weapons, and even safes. Magnet fishing enthusiasts enjoy the thrill of uncovering hidden treasures and cleaning up the environment by removing metal debris from bodies of water.
What Type of Magnets Do You Need for Magnet Fishing?
You need a strong Neodymium magnet for magnet fishing. Frenergy supplies Neodymium magnets with a pull force up to 1000 kg, but also has a range of Neodymium magnets with a lower pull force which can be easier to use for beginners. You can select from magnets with a pull force of less than 200 kilograms, to our powerful magnets with a pull force of 1000 kilograms. We can also guide you with information about the right rope size and other tips to make sure your magnet fishing expedition is safe and enjoyable. Magnet fishing does not require a great deal of equipment. You only need a few important pieces of gear, including a Neodymium magnet, rope, gloves, carabiner, and storage container. Frenergy has Neodymium magnets designed to suit all types of magnet fishing, from beginners to experts.
How Strong Are Magnets Used in Magnet Fishing?
Magnet fishing requires magnets with a strong magnetic force. Frenergy has Neodymium magnets with a pull force of up to 1000kg, suitable for retrieving heavy items such as car part or safes. Our strong Neodymium magnets are made from high-quality Rare Earth magnetic material, so they can withstand the wear and tear of frequent use. Our Neodymium magnets are nickel coated, and encased in a quality steel cover, ensuring they are able to resist the effects of corrosion and outdoor use over time.
Where Can I Go Magnet Fishing?
You can go magnet fishing in any stretch of water or beach, as long as it is not on private property. Piers and jetties are a treasure trove for old fishing lures and weights. Dams in country locations are also great places for magnet fishing – you might find old farm equipment or items from Australia's pioneering past. Always use courtesy and consideration in areas where you are magnet fishing.
Is Magnet Fishing Legal?
Magnet fishing is legal in Australia and as long as you follow some basic guidelines, you can join in the fun of discovering lost items, leaving our waterways cleaner than you found them, and making some money on the side through selling scrap metal. Check for restrictions on magnet fishing, such as State or National Park regulations, private property and local council restrictions wherever possible, before you start your magnet fishing expedition.
