Samarium Cobalt Countersunk Pot Magnet – 19mm Diameter x 8mm | M3 C/S

The Samarium Cobalt (SmCo) Countersunk Pot Magnet – 19mm Diameter x 8mm | M3 Countersunk is a premium high-temperature rare earth magnetic mounting solution designed for demanding industrial, engineering, aerospace, marine, and scientific applications. Combining the exceptional thermal stability of Samarium Cobalt (SmCo) with a durable steel pot housing, this countersunk pot magnet delivers concentrated magnetic holding power while maintaining reliable performance in environments where conventional neodymium magnets may lose strength.

Measuring 19mm in diameter and 8mm high, this magnet features a precision M3 countersunk mounting hole, allowing it to be securely fastened to equipment, machinery, panels, fixtures, and custom assemblies using a standard countersunk screw. Once installed, the flush mounting design provides a neat, professional finish while leaving the magnetic face unobstructed for maximum holding performance.

Unlike neodymium magnets, Samarium Cobalt magnets offer outstanding resistance to high temperatures, corrosion, oxidation, moisture, and many chemicals without requiring a protective coating. These properties make them the preferred choice for applications in harsh environments, high-temperature machinery, vacuum systems, marine equipment, defence projects, and precision instrumentation.

Whether you're designing specialised industrial equipment, securing removable panels, creating magnetic fixtures, or manufacturing products that must perform reliably under extreme conditions, the 19mm SmCo Countersunk Pot Magnet provides exceptional durability and long-term magnetic stability.

Why Choose a Samarium Cobalt Countersunk Pot Magnet?

The 19mm SmCo Countersunk Pot Magnet is specifically designed for applications where temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and long-term reliability are more important than achieving the absolute highest magnetic strength.

The integrated steel pot housing concentrates the magnetic field onto the contact face, improving holding performance while protecting the magnet from mechanical damage. The M3 countersunk hole allows the magnet to be permanently secured using a flush-mounted screw, making installation simple and secure without interfering with the magnetic contact surface.

Compared with standard neodymium pot magnets, Samarium Cobalt pot magnets continue to perform reliably at significantly higher operating temperatures and in corrosive environments where unprotected magnets would deteriorate. This makes them ideal for demanding industrial, marine, aerospace, laboratory, and high-performance engineering applications.

Please Note

Maximum holding force is measured under ideal laboratory conditions using a clean, flat, thick mild steel surface with full magnetic contact and a direct vertical pull. Actual holding performance will vary depending on the thickness and condition of the steel, air gaps, surface coatings, mounting orientation, and the direction of the applied load.

This magnet is designed for use on ferrous (iron-containing) metal surfaces only and will not adhere to aluminium, brass, copper, timber, plastic, glass, or most grades of stainless steel.

Samarium Cobalt magnets are hard and brittle and should be handled carefully to prevent chipping or cracking. They must not be drilled, machined, or subjected to excessive impact. Keep away from children, as magnets present a serious swallowing hazard. Keep magnets away from pacemakers, implanted medical devices, sensitive electronic equipment, and magnetic storage media. Although Samarium Cobalt offers excellent natural corrosion resistance, the steel pot housing should be protected from prolonged exposure to aggressive corrosive environments unless additional protection is provided.

The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel from a horizontal surface. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel) are generally able to hold around only 30% of the pull force listed in the product description. This is due to the effects of gravity and the lack of friction between the surface and the shiny magnet. Read More
