Samarium Cobalt Countersunk Pot Magnet – Ø19mm x 8mm | M4 Countersunk

The Samarium Cobalt Countersunk Pot Magnet – Ø19mm x 8mm | M4 Countersunk is a high-performance magnetic mounting solution engineered for applications where exceptional temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and reliable holding power are essential. Combining a premium Samarium Cobalt (SmCo) rare earth magnet with a durable steel pot housing, this magnetic assembly delivers concentrated magnetic force while providing a convenient flush-mount fixing point.

Measuring 19mm in diameter and 8mm high, this pot magnet features an M4 countersunk mounting hole, allowing it to be securely fixed using a countersunk screw for a clean, flush installation. The steel cup focuses the magnetic field onto the exposed magnetic face, significantly increasing the holding force compared to an equivalent standalone magnet while also helping protect the magnet from mechanical damage.

Unlike standard neodymium magnets, Samarium Cobalt magnets are specifically designed for demanding environments involving high operating temperatures, corrosive conditions, and long-term magnetic stability. This makes them an excellent choice for aerospace, defence, industrial manufacturing, automotive, laboratory equipment, marine applications, and specialist engineering projects.

Whether used as a magnetic mounting point, removable fixture, holding device, or positioning system, this 19mm SmCo Countersunk Pot Magnet offers dependable performance where conventional magnets may not be suitable.

Why Choose a Samarium Cobalt Countersunk Pot Magnet?

Samarium Cobalt (SmCo) is one of the most advanced permanent magnetic materials available, offering outstanding magnetic performance while maintaining stability under conditions that would significantly reduce the effectiveness of many other magnet types.

Unlike standard neodymium magnets, SmCo magnets provide excellent resistance to corrosion and generally do not require protective plating to prevent oxidation. They also maintain strong magnetic performance at much higher operating temperatures, making them an excellent choice for applications involving heat, thermal cycling, vacuum environments, or chemically aggressive conditions.

The steel pot design further enhances performance by concentrating the magnetic field onto the working face while shielding the opposite side. This not only increases holding force but also protects the magnet from impact during everyday use.

The integrated M4 countersunk hole allows the magnet to be permanently secured using a countersunk screw, creating a strong magnetic fixing point that sits flush against the mounting surface for a clean, professional installation.

Benefits of Samarium Cobalt Pot Magnets

  • Exceptional magnetic stability
  • Excellent high-temperature performance
  • Superior corrosion resistance
  • Increased holding force through steel pot construction
  • Flush and secure screw mounting
  • Reliable long-term performance
  • Resistant to oxidation and demagnetisation
  • Suitable for harsh industrial environments

  • Low-maintenance permanent magnetic solution

Please Note

Samarium Cobalt magnets are significantly more brittle than steel and should be handled carefully. Avoid impact, dropping, or overtightening the mounting screw, as excessive mechanical stress may damage the magnet.

The quoted holding force can vary depending on the thickness, grade, and surface condition of the mating steel. Air gaps, paint, coatings, rust, uneven contact, and sideways or peeling forces will reduce magnetic performance.

Although Samarium Cobalt magnets offer excellent corrosion resistance and high-temperature capability, the overall operating limits of the assembly may also depend on the steel housing, mounting hardware, and surrounding application.

Keep magnets away from children, pacemakers, medical implants, magnetic storage media, and sensitive electronic equipment that may be affected by strong magnetic fields.

The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel from a horizontal surface. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel) are generally able to hold around only 30% of the pull force listed in the product description. This is due to the effects of gravity and the lack of friction between the surface and the shiny magnet. Read More
