Neodymium Disc Magnet – 6mm x 4mm | N45

Description

The Neodymium Disc Magnet – 6mm x 4mm | N45 is a compact, high-strength rare earth magnet designed for applications requiring reliable magnetic attraction within a small space. Manufactured from N45 grade Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB), this powerful permanent magnet offers excellent magnetic performance relative to its size.

Measuring 6mm in diameter and 4mm thick, this small neodymium disc magnet features a compact cylindrical profile suitable for magnetic fastening, precision engineering, model making, craft projects, product assembly and custom magnetic applications.

The N45 magnetic grade provides high magnetic energy density, allowing this miniature magnet to generate useful magnetic attraction despite its small dimensions. Its relatively substantial 4mm thickness makes it a practical choice for projects requiring more magnetic material than an ultra-thin disc magnet of the same diameter.

Neodymium magnets are among the strongest commercially available permanent magnets. Their ability to deliver powerful magnetic performance from compact dimensions makes them popular in engineering, manufacturing, electronics, craft projects and industrial applications.

This 6mm x 4mm rare earth disc magnet can be incorporated into custom assemblies, recessed into suitable materials or paired with another correctly oriented magnet to create a compact magnetic connection.

Its small size makes it particularly useful for miniature closures, lightweight magnetic fixtures, precision positioning systems and DIY projects where larger magnets may be unsuitable.

Also known as a 6mm neodymium magnet, N45 rare earth disc magnet, 6mm x 4mm round magnet, small cylindrical magnet, miniature NdFeB magnet or high-strength permanent magnet, this product provides a versatile solution for applications requiring compact magnetic performance.

Important: The N45 designation refers to the magnetic material grade, not a 45kg pull force. Actual holding performance depends on the magnet's dimensions, magnetisation direction, contact area and operating conditions.

Surface Treatment

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

Range and Tolerance

Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. We specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.

Magnetic Properties

Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.

The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel from a horizontal surface. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel) are generally able to hold around only 30% of the pull force listed in the product description. This is due to the effects of gravity and the lack of friction between the surface and the shiny magnet. Read More
