 Neodymium Cylinder Magnets

Diameter: 10mm (0.393" in.)

Height: 10mm (0.393" in.)

Grade: N50

Coating: Nickel (Ni)

Magnetized Direction: Through height - 10mm

Theoretical Holding Force: ~4.753kg

Surface Gauss: 6,483 gauss

Cylinder magnets have superior magnetic strength compared to thinner, disc shaped magnets. The round North and South pole surfaces at each end of the cylinder are separated by a larger volume of Neodymium material than a disc shaped magnet which, in effect, amplifies the strength of their magnetic field. Cylindrical dimensions also concentrate and direct the field in a more precise way and the N50 Grade further amplifies the magnetic strength of this magnet. Neodymium Cylinder magnets are commonly used in alarm systems, electronics, electric motors and sensing equipment that requires high field accuracy as well as long term reliability. Their compact size and high magnetic energy make Neodymium cylinders ideal for incorporation into the design of modern electronic consumer products where their permanent power, dependability and low maintenance requirements are extremely important. Cylinder shapes also fit neatly into drilled voids in timber and other materials and can create helpful attachment points between ferrous and non-ferrous surfaces. They are often glued into a recess so doors can be secured in the closed or open position by attracting a metal plate which precludes the need for old fashioned latches or hooks. Neodymium magnets provide reliable, long-term performance with little or no maintenance, provided they are not exposed to temperatures above 80° Celcius. The narrow, deep field associated with cylinder magnets also makes them ideal for use in metal detecting and metal retrieval tools.
